What is a journaling practice?
A journaling practice is the applied art of minding the relationship between what you record in your journal and the relationship you have with yourself.
Let’s discuss those two a bit.
I said “relationship with what you record in your journal”. Your journal is much like a mirror — you see yourself in it.
Like with a mirror, you have feelings toward what you see in it.
You may deliberately examine these feelings that you have toward yourself. However, there is a detail missed: you forgot to recognize the role played by the mirror itself.
