Active Noticing & Passive Noticing

What are they?

Passive = Something catching your attention

Active = Giving your attention to something.

Passive noticing is something catching your attention. It's unconscious. A stimulus just comes in to us. A random smell, someone tapping your shoulder, an attractive person going by, an annoying song on loop in our minds, etc.

Active noticing is going out your way to notice something on purpose. Reading, doing a puzzle, trying to find something, drawing, measuring, etc.

It doesn't matter what it is, it matters if you gave it attention on purpose or if it just seemed to happen.
