Challenging Feelings
I want you to take notice to the vocabulary.
I call feelings "challenging" because I like to acknowledge multiple truths at once:
They're uncomfortable
It can take deliberate willpower to resist satisfying an impulse
You have to manually override the suggestions that seem to pop up
The context the feeling arises is may add a layer of overwhelm and self-consciousness.
That's a real spend on energy.
Granting acknowledgement does not require vilifying the feeling. Calling them "bad" or "negative" feelings is not a neutral categorization, it is a stance against them.
Vilifying the feeling means deciding it is unwelcome, bad, that it should not be had, that it is leads to bad actions, and is a reflection of your character.
