Neutrality
Neutrality, as a concept, is about evenness, readiness, being clear, preparedness, a blank state, new beginnings, calm, and clarity.
Neutrality is a perspective to journal from (or towards).
When you journal with, from, or towards Neutrality, you are practicing observation and non-interference. Neutrality is simple acknowledgement.
For example, I can say, "today was a busy day" and simply acknowledge it was busy. I could mean "stressful", "productive" or anything. "Busy" is connotation-free.
Now, we all have changing moods and we all are have some ratio of being pessimistic, optimistic, and neutral. The combination of these will change and they'll vary based on the subject they're directed toward.
Practicing Neutrality gives us chance to step back and observe something for what it is outside of that matrix.
Reading this, it may feel like I'm implying that being anything but neutral is bad and we should avoid it.
That's unrealistic. As long as we are human, we'll have shifting moods, feelings, emotions, reactions, etc.
What I'm saying is that a journal is a place where you can sit down and choose to be neutral.
Neutrality is helpful when you need to create distance between yourself and what you're currently experiencing.
And don't think that neutrality is only for uncomfortable feelings.
Feelings such as excitement and optimism can easily lead is to actions rooted in impulsivity and arrogance. Neutrality is valuable, regardless.
It is a state full of potential. That can be potential that serves us and potential that is restrictive, withholding, or has self-abandonment in it.
